What's going on here?

Well, fellow gardeners...what do you make of this? My Blushing Bride Hydrangea is doing great this year, still not very large but the flowers are beautiful. Most of them are white with a hit of pink like the one below but then there are two that look like they are blooms and leaves combined. White and green....hmmmmmm.

A side note: Hydrangeas are my favorite flower/plant if you haven't guessed! They are probably ho-hum to the southern gardeners but here in Zone 4 it has only been in the last few years that we can grow plants like these thanks to Bailey Nurseries here in Minnesota. I have found that they like a partly sunny spot on the east side of my house and have really enjoyed them the last 4 years.

I appreciate what you say about hydrangeas. I am originally from Virginia and I miss them. Here in Helena, MT (zone 4) I have an all white one we planted two years ago. It was barely growning and my husband thought it wasn't thriving until we put a little cage to keep the deer off -- Wow it bloomed for the first time this year and is wonderful!!

Hydrangeas are also my favorite ones. Last year, we went to visit the largest collection of hydrangeas of europe (situated in France). If you want to look at their site (which is in FR and EN) : http://www.hortensias-hydrangea.com/
Yours are so beautiful.
